41 Already

Just turned 41 yesterday. Found it hard to believe that I have actually lived for 40 years cause I haven't been feeling or even been behaving like a 40-year-old. Some even say that I don't look like one. (a compliment?) Looking back at the past 40 years, I realised that I have not made any major contributions to society or to anybody. So what have I been doing for the past 40 years? I guess I will take another 40 years to come out with the answer. (old already so brain a bit slow) Does that mean that I have wasted 40 years of my time? How many 40 years do I have? 2, according to a fortune-teller. But isn't it a waste to have just let 40 years passed by and not leave behind any impression except for those unpleasant ones, of course. Having been an educator for most of my 40 years, first as a private tutor (since my pre-u days) then as a tuition centre operator and as a trained teacher, I have touched the lives of numerous students but as to whether those are positive or negative influences, remain to be seen. There are those who wouldn't want to have anything to do with me while there are those who wouldn't mind having a friend like me. Pershaps, the only consolation that I get from all my years of teaching is to have this group of ex-students who kept me going with their care and concern. Indeed, I am very grateful to have taught them and more importantly to have become their 'old' friend. Thus, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for being there for me all this while and may we continue to keep in touch for the next 40 years or the rest of my life, which ever is longer. But before I forget, I want to thank all those who have remembered my special day and those who had sent me birthday wishes through emails, sms, mms and leaving greetings at my Blog and Friendster. Special thanks to those who came in person with their wishes and gifts and especially to Yiting (one of my first batch of students) for her birthday song. I guess it must have been kind of weird to hold a birthday party for somebody who is not that young anymore but at the same time not that old to make it into a grand affair. Well, pershaps, if I'm still around 40 years old later, then I think I deserve something more, provided I still have my teeth to eat. (eating will always be my hobby regardless of age) Thanks again for all the support and may you all be blessed with a successful and meaningful life.
